Time management is huge, right? We're all trying to save time, make things more manageable, and create a better experience for our clients and readers. A lot of my interaction with you happens through email. Whether you fill out a form on my site or you email me directly, that is how we communicate. It's very important to me to not only create the best possible experience, but also to create systems that are manageable and save us both time. Today I want to share with your four things that have made those things possible for me.
CREATE AN AUTO RESPONSE
We all lead pretty busy lives, right? I run Elah Tree, but I also work part time. Because I'm not able to answer emails everyday I created an auto response and I absolutely love it. When you email me I want you to know that I received your email and that I appreciate you. If you email me you'll receive this response,
"Hello! I'm so excited to hear from you and I can't wait to chat! Please know that we're a small studio and we respond to emails on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. We love keeping in touch with you!"
Creating an auto response gave me the opportunity to tell you that I love hearing from you and it also gives you an idea of when you'll be hearing a response from me. This keeps our line of communication open and informative. Have you ever emailed someone but then didn't hear from them for a few days and wondered what happened? Creating an auto response keeps this from happening. Not only is my auto responder informative, but it keeps me accountable by making sure I'm responding to emails on the days I mentioned.
CREATE CUSTOM RESPONSES IN SQUARESPACE FORMS
Squarespace has tons of amazing benefits and one of them is the option to create a custom response when you add a form to your site. I have contact forms on nearly every page of my site, because I want you to have easy access to contacting me. Once you fill out a form on my site you'll receive a pop message very similar to the response mentioned above. No matter what way you choose to contact me I want you to know that you are being heard and I always want you to know when I'll be communicating with you next.
Within my Squarespace forms I have two different responses. If you sign up for the newsletter you'll receive one response and if you fill out a contact form you'll receive a different response. Below you'll see how to include a custom response in your forms.
I recently added Boomerang to my email. The great thing about Boomerang is that if you're writing emails at odd hours, you can schedule when you want your email to be sent. You can also "boomerang" an email back to your inbox, that way if your skimming through emails and you open one that's important but don't have time to respond you can have it pop up in your email again.
USE CANNED RESPONSES
I first started using gmail's canned responses a few years ago. This is one of my favorite time savers. Gmail makes it easy to create and save email responses. If you are sending out the same email often or answering the same questions, you can save your responses in the canned function and quickly send them when you need.
