HOW TO ROCK YOUR STOCK PHOTOS FOR PINTEREST

Who else uses Pinterest like they use Google? If I'm looking for something specific I go one of two places, Pinterest or Google, and often times I use both. Pinterest is a search engine powerhouse. When I'm looking for new recipes, I head straight to Pinterest. When I'm looking for something business related, I head straight to Pinterest. Crafts = Pinterest. Inspiration = Pinterest. Squarespace tips = Pinterest. I would say the most of us are using Pinterest for so many things, almost everything.

As a small business owner it's important to continue to reach new customers, to pop in to their main search engine platform. For me, I want to pop up in Pinterest when they are looking for styled stock photography. Are you in the same boat? Are you trying to reach your audience/customers/readers where they hang out most?

A month or so ago, I decided it would be a great idea to curate images just for Pinterest. Images that were easily searchable, eye catching, and that would get new customers to my website. Below you'll find a variety of images I created specifically for the Elah Tree brand. Hopefully they will inspire you to do the same! :)

STACK YOUR IMAGES

Are you ready to rock your stock photos for Pinterest?! Try stacking them like I did above. Pick out a few of your favorite styled stock images, one's that you know will best represent your brand, and create a tall image, which is PERFECT, for attaching eyes on Pinterest. Get creative and add a few tag lines your images. These tag lines can be geared specifically toward your customers, bringing them right to your website.

KEEP IT SIMPLE

Creating images for Pinterest can be as easy as adding a little text. A lot of the stock photos in the shop are styled with negative space. It's super easy to add text to the negative space, like above. I think one of the easiest ways to jazz up text on a Pinterest image is to use two different fonts and to use different font sizes. One of my favorite ways to pair fonts is to use a serif font and a san serif font.

CROP IT

One of my favorite things to do with Pinterest images is to make them extra tall. This is super easy to do with styled stock photos. In the example above, I cropped this image, and extended the colored background. This can be done in photoshop or canva. Add a bit of text and you're good to go!

Are you working on bringing more customers and clients to your website through Pinterest? Let's do it together! Make it a little easier on yourself and snag some of your favorite styled stock photos, get creative, add some text, include keywords in your descriptions and you're on your way! xoxo.
